Hallo™
is the only drain protector that completely eliminates both visual and tactile contact with the hair and debris that it catches.
The domed housing hides the waste and easy pop-out filters allow the disposal of the waste without having to touch it. For reuse, slanted slots on the filters make cleaning effortless by avoiding tangling of the hair.

In 2014, as part of the Master in Product Design and Development Management program at Northwestern University's final graduation project, a product opportunity gap needed to be addressed along with a full business plan to pursue the project's sustainable growth and further development.
Quantitative research evidenced that the grand majority of people in the United States own a combined bathtub & shower unit and more than half of them only take showers in their bathtubs. Hallo™ was designed to attend to these people's needs.
Through ethnography, we have determined that our main market consists of long-haired people (mostly women) in their thirties and older, and family households.
Product Goal:
Develop an attractive low-maintenance filter that homeowners can use to protect plumbing from debris that cause clogging in bathtubs.

The Product
Ideally suited for users who typically take showers in a bath/shower combination unit, fits every standard bathtub drain without hindering use of a built-in or add-on stopper.

The product consists of two parts
Just place it over the drain

No contact with the mess
There is no need to see or touch the waste

The easiest filter to clean, in the market
Just pop another in to replace

Fluid Dynamics
Inner walls eliminate the water vortex, thus having it go straight into the drain without swirling around it first.
We know, through tests, that the flow is faster.

Launch plan
Product distribution, pricing and sales forecast were defined for effective profit & loss projections, along with a 5-year family line development plan.
